Are Marketing With A Hammer?

Are You Marketing Your Business With Just A Hammer?

Hi Scott Wilson here and today I have a really interesting question for you.

You see in the last few weeks I’ve been running a direct mail campaign to a select group of business owners. So far it’s been a very interesting and productive marketing campaign. (I’ll probably share some results with you once the 8 week campaign has finished.)

However I’m just two weeks into this campaign and I’m uncovering a trend which 90% of the businesses I that have spoken to have in common.

And the trend is… "90% of the businesses are marketing their businesses with only a hammer."

What do I mean by this? Well, if you need to hang a picture or build a fence then you’d probably use a hammer.

Right?

But if you needed to paint a fence you wouldn’t use a hammer. You’d use a paint brush.

However some business owners are using a hammer (one marketing tool) to do the jobs that other marketing tools would be more effective in doing.

Sadly this is one of the reasons why some most business owners fail at marketing their businesses. It’s also why they see marketing as a cost and not as an investment.

You see when direct response marketing is implemented correctly it is an investment. In fact it is my belief that any money you spend on marketing your business should eventually be self-funding. Which means your marketing should actually be making you more money than your investing.

Listen closely because in just two weeks of in-the-market data I’ve discover that most businesses are replying on either just their website or just a radio campaign, or just their yellow pages ad, or just a networking event to bring in new business and to communicate with their existing customers.

If you’re doing this in your business then I want you to know you’re leaving a lot of possible cash flow on the table. That’s right you’re losing money because you’re marketing with a hammer when you should be using a paint brush or a screwdriver depending on the outcome you’re trying to achieve.

However, if you’ve been a customer or a list member of Leads and Profits for a while then you know I’m never one to open a problem up and then never provide a solution.

So I have some good news for you because in two weeks time I’m going to releasing my new "Cash Flow Focus 09" — Your Complete Business Marketing System Program.

This is a complete done-for-you direct response online and offline marketing program that will only be open to 5 businesses. (And yes 5 only means 5 — I sent money back to people who were too late on my "Website Warrant of Fitness" offer and I’ll do the same again with this offer as well.)

However the good news for you is as part of pre-launch I’m going to send 3 videos that will give you some better marketing tools.

You can freely use this profit generating information I’m going to share with you to generate cash flow for your business.

Best of all each video is about 7 minutes long and is targeted to give you information that you can use today no matter what business you’re in. Also to be fair these videos are a little self-serving because I know if you use the information and make a profit from them then you’ll probably want to be one of the 5 businesses that qualifies to work with me.

It’s a win/win!

However this is important — please don’t feel there’s any pressure on you to join my program after watching these videos because there’s not.

My list of contacts is big enough that I know this done-for-you business marketing program will sell out. But first I just want to deliver to you amazing content that you can profit from.

Ok enough for today — look out for your first 7 minute video coming this Thursday.

It will be called "The Boomerang Strategy"

Until then have fun & take action

Testing and Measuring Pays Off

"Why Testing and Measuring Your Business Marketing Pays Off — Big Time!"

Dear Business Owner,

Scott Wilson here,  wow hard to believe 2009 is 20 days old already. Seriously where does time go these days?

In today’s email I’m going to share with you some testing and measuring results from my own business including showing you a sales letter that’s converting at 8.62%.

If you own an online or offline business this is going to be a good marketing lesson and one you can implement in your own business pretty easy.

Firstly though I have a quick question for you. Do you actually test and measure your business marketing efforts?

You see yesterday I sent all the customers that have brought my new product “2009 Cash Flow Creator” Pack a copy of my “Marketing Tracking Spreadsheet”. I personally use this “Marketing Tracking Spreadsheet” to track and measure what’s working and what’s not in my marketing.

I don’t know about you, but I used to get so frustrated at not really know if my marketing was working. Well that all changed as soon as I started tracking it. In fact it gave me back my focus because very quickly in just a matter of weeks I could see where I was getting the best return for my marketing dollars.

Have you ever felt a little confused about whether your marketing and advertising efforts are really working?

If have then start today by asking everyone who contacts your business “How did they hear about us?” — Do this for a month and you’ll soon get a picture of where and how customers are finding you.

Sounds simple and it is but most businesses don’t do it.

Ok here are some testing results from my new “2009 Cash Flow Creator” product — the sales letter for this product is converting at 8.62%. Which means for every 100 visitors I get to this sales page I generate 8.62 sales.

You can see the sales letter by clicking this link — http://tinyurl.com/8gn8yw

My average dollar sale is $253 because I’m actually offering 2 packages which means some customers invest in the silver package at $197 and some invest in the gold package at $347. (Quick tip: if you’re selling anything always offer your customers options as some customers will always want to invest in the more expensive option because of the better value it represents to them.)

Here’s the kicker though — I’m split testing the headlines on both sales pages and one sales page is converting 4 times better than the other. And the only thing difference on the 2 sales page are the headlines.

You see unless I tested this I could have been potentially throwing money away without even knowing it. However testing and measuring headlines gives me the power to know what’s working and what’s not — this is when marketing and writing sales copy gets fun.

Once I’ve found the headline that sales the most,  I’ll start testing price — which basically means I’ll put the price up until sales slow down.

Check out this sales page and see if you can see why it’s converting at 8.62%. — better still grab yourself a copy of “2009 Cash Flow Creator” products and use it to make your business some much need cash flow in 2009.
